Ada tamu Bule
Ratri’s first day at the café was very exciting but also a little scary. She had to start work early at 7 a.m. Just ten minutes after she arrived, a foreign guest from Australia walked in. He smiled and said, “Good morning!” Ratri felt nervous and a bit out of place. She tried to speak English, but her words came out slowly and she felt not at ease.
The Australian man was very kind. He could see Ratri was trying hard, so he didn’t make fun of her. Instead, he asked, “Can I help you out?” He then said, “Don’t worry, take it easy.” He taught her five simple phrases he uses every day. Ratri listened carefully and tried to pay attention to his pronunciation.
He told her to always look on the bright side and not give up. “You’ll get used to speaking English soon,” he said. He also taught her how to say “No worries!” and “Cheers!” Ratri felt happy and said, “Terima kasih!” The man laughed and said, “You’re welcome!” From that moment, she felt more confident and decided to keep on trying.
During the day, Ratri had to deal with many customers, but she remembered the man’s tips. She learned to take care of people with a smile. When another foreigner came, she could make small talk and even asked, “How’s your day?” The guest smiled and said, “Great, thanks!”
By lunchtime, Ratri started to feel more comfortable. She wasn’t perfect, but she didn’t mind making mistakes. She knew she would get better over time. Her boss said, “Good job today!” and gave her a thumbs up. Ratri smiled and thought, Ini awal yang bagus.
